Before advance technology made it so easy, writing letter is the only way to get the message come across. Letters appear in many forms and types, a love letter, a thank you letter, an invitation letter, etc, but normally, a letter would has the following components:
- The heading
- The greeting
- The body
- The closing
- The signature of the writer
However, lies between the lines is what truly make letter differentiate itself from other way of communication. A letter conveys more than thoughts and feelings, it shows how much the writer care. “More than kisses, letters mingle souls.” (John Donne).
The very first thing that captures people's attention is the envelope. Choosing an envelope that fits the receiver's personality is the best way to make them know how much you think of them, that they are worth the effort you spend to find the right envelope.
Envelopes come in many different styles, if the person you are sending the letter to is an energetic kind of person, choose an envelope with bright colors and many unique designs to make them more appealing.
Or, if you are sending the letter to your family member like mom, dad, or someone you need to be more formal with, choose an envelope that has a basic outlook, but it won't be just a boring plain envelope that you could find at any book store, let them know that you do put your heart into it with envelopes that have a touch of details hidden inside. A cute little surprise would only do you good.
The outside look may be easy to notice, but the inside is what really matter. One of the things that helps letter convey feelings better is that letter shows the writer's hand-writing. When you write something, your handwriting speaks volumes. Your personality, your emotion at the time, were you in a hurry, were you tired, or did you mean every word you write, it’s transparent. Therefore, the pen that you use to write the letter is also need to be taken under consideration.
Just like envelope, pens have their own diversity in forms and style. Many different shapes and colors that you could choose from, it could be your or the receiver's favorite color. Just remember that choose a pen that makes it easy to read and comfortable to write with, because in the end, that's all that matters.
A letter that’s carefully written and carried the signature scent of the writer is the best one. People remember things better when both their sense of smell and sight work at the same time. Things tend to leave deeper impression that way. After finish writing your letter, put a bit of your usual perfume onto the page, or some aroma of any sort that make people comfortable, and your letter is good to go.
Write a letter is more of an old-fashioned way of communication, but no doubt that it's one of the best. Many things can be conveyed through a simple piece of paper, so, next time that you want to get in touch with a love one, how's about try writing a letter to them?
